The real estate market is constantly changing. There are many factors that cause such change. For example, a changing market environment or rising interest rates. But one of the biggest factors driving the constant change in the real estate market is us. 

The Ideal Home is always a product of current trends and these are constantly changing. In this blog, we would therefore like to show you what the ideal home of tomorrow could look like. 

Smart Living Today 

Smart living starts with the design of a home. Nowadays, it is possible to render a property completely digitally, so that the developer or the future owner can see and design every single detail. Likewise, there are already similar products that make it possible to furnish the home digitally, so that the desired furniture can be viewed directly on site in the flat. For this purpose, so-called “augmented reality” (AR) is used, which will find application in many areas in the future.  

For example, in the future it could also be possible to visualise the conversions of objects through AR glasses before starting the conversion. This could ensure that you have a perfect template for the work. We at Pillar-X see very great potential in such technologies and will be one of the first to exploit this potential. 

Already today, there are some products that enable Smart Living. There are many start-ups and modern companies that want to play in this market. Among them, for example, is KNX with its “Home Assistant”. 

The KNX Home Assistant allows you to link many different devices in the house and have them work in tandem. For example, a built-in sensor can detect whether it is sunny outside. A reaction of the system to this would be, for example, to turn off the heating and open the curtains so that the home is warmed up naturally. This can save a lot of energy, which should be attractive for many people, especially nowadays. 

Other products, such as Philips Hue, work together with the KNX Home Assistant. The coloured lights from Phillips Hue, for example, make it possible for the lighting to automatically adjust to the time of day. This also saves a lot of energy. 

What will be possible in the future? 

How far such smart living concepts can develop in the future is still written in the stars. One could imagine walls serving as screens and many other sci-fi ideas in a more distant future. But it is clear that the beginnings of smart living has already begun and sooner or later every home will become a bit “smarter”. 

This not only helps save electricity, but can also make everyday life easier for many people. For example, vacuum robots integrated into the system can automatically clean the home. This would be a great help especially for elderly or otherwise impaired people.
