This system will typically cost around £6,000 to install (including VAT). However, you may be eligible for financial incentives through the U.K. Green Deal scheme, which could cover up to two-thirds of this cost. You can then make savings on your electricity bill as you generate some or all of your own electricity from the solar panels instead of buying it from the grid.  

The average household using a 4kW system can expect to save around £480 annually on their energy bills. This means that over 20 years, you could save up to £9,600 on energy costs alone – not including any additional grants or incentives available through the UK Green Deal scheme.  

In addition, with Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), you could also get paid for the excess electricity your solar panels produce and export to the grid. How Many Types of Solar Cells Are There?

Solar hot water panels are made of copper tubing, which runs around a series of glass or polycarbonate plates. When installed on the roof, sunshine passes through the glass and heats up the pipes, transferring that heat to your home’s water tank. This heated water can then be used in showers, baths, and to wash dishes.

If you own a property in an area that experiences a lot of snowfall, you may need to invest in a snow rake or some other devices to keep the panels clear. But apart from that, the maintenance is minimal.
