Question 1: Hello Thomas. I am very pleased that you have taken the time to answer a few questions. Let’s start with a short introduction of yourself and your work at Pillar X.

My name is Thomas Caspar and I am 33 years old. I did my training as a warehouse clerk. Even at a young age, I was fascinated by organisational activities and accuracy.

That’s probably why I chose this profession. However, due to my thirst for knowledge, the job became too boring and after a few years I was looking for a new challenge. It was after my further education in business administration and many years as a project manager was when I found this profession.

Above all, the international contact with customers was what excelled me personally and professionally in my career. As the saying goes, different countries, different customers.

I am the founder of the company Pillar-X together with my brother.

Question 2: Someone with a talent for organisation and the necessary business background can certainly bring a lot of valuable experience to the company. What do you think you contribute to Pillar X and did your professional background also make you want to start your own company?

Investments have always been very interesting to me, be it precious metals, stocks, bitcoin or real estate. However, my mindset used to be quite different, and I always thought to myself that you can only earn money one way and that is with a job.

However, the initial idea of starting a company didn’t come to light for us until about 6 years ago, we didn’t know which direction it should go. We then made the plans concrete about 3 years ago and decided on the real estate sector.

As for experience, I bring my international knowledge from my previous job. Although the subject of real estate was a foreign word to me at first, I know what makes the British tick because we had a large clientele in the UK and I therefore already have experience with managing and training people who come from other countries.

Question 3: With the right motivation and knowledge you can achieve a lot. Can you also tell us something about your daily work?

Daily work? It would be very boring if I had a normal daily routine at Pillar-X haha. No two days are every the same because we are in contact with lots of people and have to do different jobs all the time, I wouldn’t say that there is a typical everyday life for me.

It is often the case that we have something planned for the day and then it gets thrown out because other things more important things takes priority but that’s just business. What I can say is that every day at Pillar-X is admin work, i.e. sitting at the PC and making lots of phone calls.

Question 4: That sounds very exciting. It is certainly a challenge. What do you think was the biggest hurdle you had to overcome at Pillar X?

I think one of the biggest challenges for me personally was founding our company. Because we were in the midst of the pandemic in 2020 and there was a lot of uncertainty, it was initially very difficult for us to reach our people on the ground. In other words, there was also some uncertainty about how the opening was going to take place, as flying was rather difficult at that time.

However, challenges are here to be overcome and solutions to the challenges are to be found. Almost 2 years later, I can look back and say that this was a challenge, but one that we were able to overcome with our excellent team.

Question 5: The pandemic certainly didn’t make it any easier for you. Which projects have excited you the most in the last two years?

I am very proud of all our projects. With every purchase of a property, we get satisfaction that we can provide a home to a family or someone needing one.

Personally, however, I am extremely excited about our current project in Liverpool “Project Wallasey”, which is our largest project to date and where we have been given a great opportunity to provide more living space.

The project consists of 10 flats, one of which will be very special. But psssst I don’t want to give too much away yet. Keep an eye on our social media channels to find out everything about the Wallasey project. New information will be coming soon.

Question 6: With your business experience and practical knowledge, you are an expert on the real estate market. What factors do you think will influence the property market most in the future?

Inflation and housing shortage. Anyone who has taken a closer look at the current events surrounding the global economy can certainly guess where this is leading. By the way, we have also written a blog about the topic of inflation and what this basically means.

Accordingly, the real estate market is currently in an upward trend, which I believe will continue for some time. Of course, this also means that real estate and rents will become more expensive. Especially a country like the UK has a limited amount of land that can be built on, which in turn leads to a housing shortage in the long run.

Question 7: That sounds very positive for real estate investors. So you are also a clear advocate of real estate as an investment for the future?

Absolutely! I can’t remember a time when real estate as an investment didn’t make sense. Basically, I always say that it is important to have a long-term focus and to look for the right properties.

There has always been real estate and there always will be. In my opinion, the demand will also increase and not decrease if you take a look at the world population.
